Well Being Workshops

In addition to providing counselling and hypnotherapy to individual clients throughout the North West we also engage with the local community with Well-being Workshops. The half or full day workshops have been devised to help schools, businesses and charities investigate stress reduction and management.

Half day workshops incorporate a pragmatic discussion around the definition of stress which is followed by experiential personal coping strategies. The identification of stress response in self and others forms an essential element of the learning. We also look at how to improve individual assertiveness and develop an environment where assertiveness is encouraged. Mindfulness and meditative techniques are incorporated into a hands-on approach and we can also provide massage therapies on request.

The full day workshop expands the personal learning to include organisational well-being, corporate coping strategies and ongoing programmes for stress reduction.

Case Study – AH Mertons Ltd

Wellbeing Workshop - AH Mertons

In addition to helping dozens of schools and charities to identify and reduce stress we also provide this experiential and enjoyable day to businesses throughout the North West.

A typical client for the Well-being Workshop is AH Merton Ltd - a company of ophthalmic opticians with seven branches around the North West. A visit to their website at www.ahmertons.com reveals a company who obviously care about their staff and clients. They are a family owned business which started back in 1977 and now employ 50 staff.

Testimonials from the day include:-

  • “Better than expected”
  • “I learned how to turn negative into positive”
  • “I felt great afterwards – no need to feel guilty about relaxing!”
  • “I am looking forward to trying some of the relaxation techniques”
  • “Fantastic”
  • “I have learned how to switch off”
  • “I realised that I never sit still and relax and I will make sure I do so in the future”
  • “I loved it!”

As well as bringing staff together who often do not meet, they enjoyed bonding and having fun with a theme that affects them all of them and their friends and families. Learning that stress is life related – not just work related.

Jonathan provides regular counselling for stress to groups and individuals and much of the course is informed by his private practice. Jonathan is also completing a doctorate at The University of Manchester which includes research on stress. Jonathan’s wife Gill can also provide Hand or Indian Head Massages on the day.
